Listening to Gerry Rafferty, Mobb Deep and Pearl Jam all in one playlist. Which evidently inspires me to configure very sexy Porsches.

Also, that automatic transmission that Porsche makes, PDK. Who the hell calls it by it’s actual name? Which is Dopelkukekkurkerkeukukukukeureukeurkk I think.

Probably German people would. Or engineers. Maybe German engineers.

Something something, “If we over complicate the word automatic, then less people will buy those.”

Or, hear me out, it’s a German company that named their product something in German.

I sometimes call PDK by its actual name (Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe) just because it’s fun to say. And then my friends look at me like I’ve just shat a unicorn.

That’s a sexy configuration though. I’d have gone gunmetal on the wheels myself.

How does one go about pronouncing that?

I always pronounced it Dopple-cup-lung.

Because Germany.

I forget which episode but I was listening to TST podcast for background noise and heard a guy who spoke german pronounce it “Porsche dop-el-coop-lungs-guy-stree-bay”.

Hahaha, I'll just stick with PDK for now.

I should think it’s more like “Porsche dopp-el-coop-lunks-geh-stree-buh.” The “G” after an “N” tends to take on more of a “K” sound in German, and trailing “E” is typically more akin to a French “E” with an accent grave (è) than an accent aigu (é).

Well you certainly sound more knowledgable than me in regard to German. Good to know how to properly pronounce it now.

It’s not a hard rule, just something I’ve picked up hanging out with a German family and that’s what they told me when I asked about it.

Apparently, when I speak German I sound like a Frenchman taking a stay in the Fatherland rather than an American trying to speak German.

I say the full PDK sometimes randomly or if I need a laugh when I’m down.
